1. Do I need to be a paid member to access the Member Portal, receive introductions, or attend events?
No. You can create a free profile and sign in to the Member Portal.
- Introductions: Free profiles receive introductions when you’re a strong fit for one of our current paid members. In contrast, as a paid member, our matchmakers actively search for introductions for you—through our database and in-person events.
- Events: You do not need to be a paid member to attend. Our guest lists are curated based on the members we’re searching for. If you see an event you want to join, Request access—it’s not guaranteed, but when selected, your invite will appear in your Events tab so you can secure your spot.
2. Who can see my profile?
Unlike other dating platforms, your profile is not openly viewable to other users, providing a more comfortable dating experience.
We hand-pick matches based on the criteria you set, and only when we identify a potential connection will a version of your profile be shared with that individual. When mutual interest is established, a private chat will be unlocked, allowing you to explore the connection in a focused and personalized manner.
3. How do I create an account with Halifax Matchmaker and gain access to the platform?
To create your account, click "Create Your Free Profile" on our website. You’ll receive an email titled "Your Halifax Matchmaker Login is Here." You must click the link in this email to create your login details. Once your account is set up, you can sign in any time through our website or via the app, SmartMatchApp Member Portal (available on iOS and Android).
4. What Information From My Profile is Fully Private?
At Halifax Matchmaker, we take your privacy seriously. The following information remains completely private and is accessible only to our matchmakers:
- Your last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Address
- The private feedback section of your profile
- Your desired age range for matches
This information is used solely by our team to provide you with the best possible matchmaking experience and is never shared with other users. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us!
5. I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
To reset your password, go to the sign-in page on our website. The app does not support password resets. Click "Forgot Password," and a reset link will be sent to your email.
6. I’m trying to create a free profile, but it says my email is already registered.
If you have already provided your email on any of our platforms, you would have received a welcome email with login details. If you can’t locate this email, go to the sign-in page on our website and click "Forgot Password" to gain access.
7. How do I know if I have a match?
A chat bubble will appear beside your new introduction’s name when you have a match. Click the chat bubble to start communicating—this will be your prompt to reach out and engage!
8. I don’t see a chat bubble—does that mean we are not a match?
Not necessarily. It may take some time for new introductions to respond. If you don’t see a chat bubble immediately, please be patient, as responses can vary in timing.
9. How will I know if someone is not a match?
We keep our members introductions list organized by removing any introductions that did not result in a match. This ensures that your list is focused on active connections.
10. What do the green thumbs up, red thumbs down, and message icons mean?
These are your private responses to our matchmakers and serve as your personal notes. No one else can see these responses.
11. I don’t see my match’s name in my inbox. How do I message them?
To start a conversation with a match, go to your introductions list and click the double chat bubble beside their name. This action will make the conversation appear in your inbox.
12. Why am I receiving the error message "Your account has been locked" when I try to sign in?
If you're seeing the "Your account has been locked" error, it means that your account was previously deactivated using the email address you are currently trying to sign in with. To regain access to your account, you’ll need to reach out to us directly at contact@halifaxmatchmaker.ca
We’ll assist you in unlocking your account so you can continue using the platform.
13. How does your Invite System work for events?
Our invite-only approach is designed to create the best possible mix of new, high-quality introductions at every event for the best matchmaking experience.
To get started, just create a free dating profile and request invites to any upcoming events that interest you. If selected, you’ll see your invite in the “Events” tab of our app, where you can secure your spot.
⚠️ Spots are limited and monitored in real-time, so be sure to secure your spot while tickets last. If your invite disappears, it usually means someone you’ve already met booked their spot first.
